Bridges, Setup, and Support

Map-panion works well on its own, but optional bridges can extend it for rotator control, logging-related workflows, and metering visibility. This page gives you the big-picture overview, points you to setup help, and explains how optional bridge support works.

What is a bridge?

A bridge is a small companion component that allows Map-panion to exchange information with other local applications, devices, or services in your shack.Bridges are optional.

You do not need them to use the core application. They are there for operators who want deeper integration with rotator control, logging workflows, or meter data.

Rotator Setup

Map-panion can work with PstRotatorAz through its built-in UDP Control Setup. No separate bridge file is required.

N3FJP Bridge

The N3FJP bridge extends Map-panion with local logging-related workflows. It is aimed at operators who want Map-panion to work alongside their existing N3FJP environment.

Yaesu Bridge

The Yaesu Bridge connects Map-panion with supported Yaesu FT-710, FT-991A and FT-891 radio control workflows for local station integration.

WaveNode Bridge

The WaveNode bridge adds meter-related visibility for operators who want power and SWR-style awareness inside the Map-panion operating environment.

Setup basics

Start simple. Get the core app running first, then add bridges one at a time.

  • Install or run Map-panion first

  • Confirm the core app is working before adding bridges

  • Add one bridge at a time

  • Use the Integrations panel where applicable

  • Restart Map-panion after certain settings changes

  • Keep portable installs in their own folder

How bridge support works

Map-panion itself is free to download and use.

Optional bridge files are available with a suggested $5 support donation. This is not a forced paywall. It is simply a small way to support the time spent building, testing, documenting, and supporting the optional bridge ecosystem.

Bridge support currently covers rotator, N3FJP, and WaveNode-related workflows.

How to request bridge files

After donating, use the contact method below to request the bridge package. Include enough information so the correct bridge files and setup guidance can be sent.

  • Your name or callsign

  • Any relevant setup notes

Donating to us

Map-panion grew out of my own love for amateur radio and the idea that a shack companion should be practical, local-first, and built for real operating. I’ve been shaping it into a tool that brings mapping, station awareness, and useful integrations together in one place. If you’d like to support the project, thank you — your support helps me keep improving Map-panion and sharing the tools that go with it.
